MassLive | Park Labrea News/Beverly Press | The Camarillo Acorn | The Signal
Local news is not all political campaigns and expanded traffic collisions. Annual fundraisers and community engagement from a lively community make for an immense multitude of festivities, information sessions, carnivals, community service projects and physical activities. Learning the rhythm of mingling with local nonprofits and city institutions as a means to provide news helped to flesh out my writing, as it gave meaning to why I chose journalism in the first place. The picture to the left makes that exact point: this was the first Pride Month picnic held in the area I grew up. History in action.
