MassLive | The Signal | The Sundial
Covering breaking news stories was once a deep fear of mine. Early on, I considered journalism too cerebral and covering fires and car crashes was relegated to television, a la "Nightcrawler." Easing into my changing role at The Signal years later, the severity and importance of these stories continued to make greater sense to me. Living in a small community meant whatever small crisis affected one side of town must have had some effect on my family and their day-to-day activities. Accidents meant traffic delays while petty crime presented a dilemma to a town famous for its safety and calmness. Have I been afraid covering live emergencies? Never bothered to think about it. Keep your head low and one ear open, and a story will unfold before you.
To follow up the wide amount of breaking news coverage since moving to Massachusetts, head over to the MassLive tab above to read more.
