Born in Los Angeles and raised in the suburbs of Burbank and Santa Clarita, my lifelong curiosity with the world around me sparked a meaningful passion for knowledge.

Understanding journalism to be the first draft of history, my drive to pursue journalism began in junior high as a reporter then editor, continuing into high school. The exercise of writing came to flourish after I was enrolled at California State University Northridge and became the youngest editor on the staff of the weekly newspaper, The Sundial. I graduated with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Political Science. Already a frequent traveller, I have traveled across parts of Europe and flown across Latin America, a region of the world I hold close to my convictions and my heart, staying at times in Mexico, Chile, Brazil and Costa Rica. Combined with my passion for reading and studying history, travel abroad has helped in understanding several local matters within the United States.

This perspective drove my pursuit to cover a broad repertoire of events and developments in the Santa Clarita Valley as a staff writer for The Signal newspaper. My hometown changed following the election of Donald Trump, as divisions festered and circumstances in Los Angeles County (homelessness, gentrification, police brutality) unfurled north. My coverage included local emergencies such as wildfires, petty crime, homicides and traffic collisions, expanding further to include the 2018 Midterm Election, senior living, education, local small businesses, fundraisers and the prominent religious community. I then pursued work beyond Santa Clarita, freelancing for The Camarillo Acorn and writing for Park Labrea News/ Beverly Press, before briefly working in a seasonal role at Warner Bros. Studios just before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving me unemployed until the end of 2020 as he sheltered in place with my family.

Back in February 2021, I was hired as the editor-in-chief of The Santa Clarita Valley Proclaimer. The alternative news website was founded in 2018 by radio producer Stephen Daniels. He saw an opportunity to relaunch the website with a refined, professional staff. Under my leadership, The Proclaimer grew with former Signal reporters and up-and-coming journalists from CSUN or with a passion for news. Our coverage focused on the community's grip on the COVID-19 pandemic, the city's growing diversity and culture, as well as the campaigns preparing for the 2022 Midterm Elections. Readership grew, culminating with the website's partnership in promoting the Santa Clarita International Film Festival in December 2021. In April 2022, Stephen and I made the hardest decision: due to financial constraints, The Proclaimer shut down.

That summer, I accepted a job offer from MassLive, a Springfield, Massachusetts-based news website with an office in Worcester, the second largest city in New England. Five years earlier, I had visited Boston as a tourist and that was the most exposure I had to New England. In accepting the offer, I packed as many of my belongings and drove from California to Massachusetts with my father with me. Much of my experiences have been a great asset in interpreting news, from crime reporting to primary election coverage to shark sightings. Massachusetts is my home, one I have grown to love and thrive in. Whenever we can, my girlfriend and I love to take trips across the Bay State and across New England.

My passion for writing, reading and talking about the news of the day continues, as I look ahead at what opportunities lie ahead of me.

"One writes in order to deflect death and strangle the specters that haunt us; but what one writes can be historically useful only when in some way it coincides with the need of the collectivity to achieve its identity."
